COVID-19: Teletherapy & Resources

As a result of the COVID-19 virus, PCS is now providing teletherapy by phone or video for individuals, couples, and families. We want to continue supporting our current Arizona clients and welcome new clients who are looking for a safe alternative to in person therapy.

Overview

PCS provides an accepting, and supportive environment with treatment tailored to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, + (LGBTQ+) community. We recognize that people in the LGBTQ+ community may not seek out psychological services for fear of prejudice and insensitivity. You can be confident that every member of the PCS staff strongly believes in the value of diversity and honors the dignity and self-worth of every client. Whether you are single, partnered, closeted, transitioning, POZ, or questioning, you will find an accepting, judgment-free environment at PCS. Our entire team is dedicated to the mental and emotional health of the LGBTQ+ community.

The benefits of LGTBQ Therapy

  • Process Discrimination & Homophobia
  • Opportunities to explore gender identity and expression
  • Enhanced understanding of the “coming out” process
  • Understand & Work Through Trauma
  • Development of coping skills to work through addiction, anxiety, depression, and sexual compulsivity
  • Address Relationship Issues

Our Therapy Process

We offer a team of culturally-sensitive mental health professionals who can work with you one-on-one in individual therapy sessions to help you embrace who you are and guide you through the challenges that people in the LGBTQ+ community face.

Your first step is to call us to schedule your initial appointment. We work hard to pair you with a therapist that we believe will be the best fit for you and your current struggles.

Your initial evaluation session provides an opportunity for you to build rapport with the therapist and provide them with some background about yourself and the reasons you are seeking counseling. In addition, they will be able to answer your questions regarding services, confidentiality, and what to expect in therapy. With your best interests in mind, you will decide together what kind of treatment will be most beneficial to you.

At the end of your first session, if you decide to move forward and work with that therapist, you will be asked to schedule further appointments. At your second appointment, you will set goals with your therapist for your overall therapy experience and then begin working together towards achieving them.
