FAQ

How do I schedule an appointment?

PCS offers an administrative staff to assist you in scheduling appointments . Appointments can be made over the phone or at the front desk, and as early as six weeks in advance. Please ask for an appointment reminder list from the front desk, as PCS does not offer appointment reminders via text or email.

If you are making an appointment for someone other than yourself and they are 18 years of age or older, we do require the client to complete an Authorization Form giving us permission to do so. This form can be completed by the client here.

After scheduling your appointment, you can complete and submit your registration forms online. By completing the registration forms prior to your first appointment, you will save time when you check in. You can complete this form here.

How much does a therapy session cost?

The PCS treatment team consists of over 25 therapists, ranging from psychologists to interns, and providing a wide range of session rates. The session rates range from $125 to $500 per 45-50 minute session and vary by the therapists’ specialties, years of experience, and degrees. To help make therapy affordable to all, PCS offers sessions with our interns on a sliding scale. Interns are Master Level or Post Doctoral PhD students completing their supervisory rotation. These sessions are offered at $20 to $85 per session.

Therapy session rates can easily be quoted once you have decided upon a therapeutic member of our team.

Is PCS accepting new clients?

PCS has a staff of over 25 professionals, with availability ranging from 7am to 7pm, Monday through Friday. Please call our front office and we can assist you in finding a therapist that fits your needs.

Does PCS offer group therapy?

PCS has several groups that are offered every week and some specialty groups that are held throughout the year. To attend groups, you must be referred by a PCS therapist or by a licensed professional. Groups range from $60 to $100 per session. You can read more about our groups by viewing them here.

Does PCS charge a cancellation fee?

PCS has a 24-hour cancellation policy for single sessions (45-50 minutes) and a 48-hour cancellation policy for any appointment over 60 minutes. This fee includes the full session rate if not cancelled within the above time period. Please note that this is 24 and 48 business hours and that sessions cannot be cancelled via email or voicemail. This policy applies to both late cancellations and no-shows.

If you cannot attend your session but are available, you do have the option to complete your session over the phone, at the discretion of your therapist.

Note that we do not make or cancel appointments through voicemails or emails.

Do the therapists at PCS work with clients under the age of 18?

Yes. PCS has several therapists that work with minors as young as 3 years old. In order for your child to receive therapeutic treatment, PCS requires consent from both parents. To assist with the registration process, we have provided the Consent to Treat a Minor and the PCS Minor New Patient Registration Forms online. If it is not possible to get a signed consent by both parents, please discuss with the front office staff.

Are therapy sessions available by phone or video?

Phone and/or video sessions are available at PCS. Phone or video sessions will be up to the discretion of your therapist and may be restricted by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners or the Arizona Board of Psychologist Examiners.

How do I contact my therapist?

If you need to reach your therapist, we strongly suggest that you call the front office and leave a message with the front desk. You may email with a request to leave a message for your therapist, but we suggest that you do not include any private information. Email initiated by you and sent to PCS is not confidential. Alternatively, email initiated by PCS utilizes a firewall, password protection, and is encrypted, when necessary. Therefore, we cannot guarantee confidentiality of email communication, even when you reply directly to PCS email. If you choose to communicate confidential information with PCS via email, PCS will assume that you have made an informed decision to take the risk that it may be intercepted.

Does PCS take insurance?

PCS does not submit insurance billing directly through our office. Any client who wishes to use insurance to supplement payment must self-submit. If you are planning to submit to insurance for reimbursement, request a copy of your super bill at the front desk. The super bill will include all information required by your carrier, such as your therapist credentials, date of service, service codes, diagnostic codes, and amount paid.

We do encourage clients to file a claim with their insurance, as most of our clients are successful in getting reimbursed for a portion of their payment.
