About Denise

As a somatic experiencing practitioner (SEP), I encourage clients to utilize both top down (cognitive) and bottom up (somatic) processing to move past maladaptive patterns of self-protection, to facilitate a release of stress and trauma, and to gain new depths of insight. Within the safe space of the therapeutic alliance, I do this by supporting the practice of mindfulness, in conjunction with the skillful use of self- compassion and personal discipline, to help clients achieve greater authenticity and to build the inner strength necessary to make desirable change happen.

Moving at the speed of awareness and sitting with difficult material can be an uncomfortable experience. Consequently, I strive to provide a context with the right mixture of compassion, guidance, and protection as a model for clients to move toward greater self-leadership. As the therapeutic process unfolds, my hope is that clients will find within themselves a greater capacity for cultivating a value- based lifestyle firmly rooted in meaningful connection with self and others.

There is a voice that doesn’t use words. Listen.” – Rumi
