As a musician first, I was drawn to this work as a therapist for many reasons. In both roles, you must be genuine and intentional to be effective, and you must trust the process without getting side tracked by difficulty or unexpected road blocks. You must feel safe enough with those around you to take risks, and be humble so you can continue to learn. As a therapist, I value having the role of facilitating a safe space for healing and the journey to becoming more intimately connected to yourself and others.
My experience has included working with individuals impacted by and perpetrators of sexual abuse. I work with men of all ages, who struggle with a variety of sexual issues and have had the opportunity do this in a variety of settings from outpatient to correctional facilities. I also enjoy working with adolescents and couples. My approach is heavily influenced by cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and emotionally focused theories.
When I’m not working or playing drums, I’m hopefully hanging out with my wife and chasing our three kids around.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona and earned a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University.
